Translated from the Latin, it means “Launch out into the Deep”. It poses a challenge to every Xavierite to let go “the safety of the shore” and venture out into deeper waters. In venturing out a Xavierite’s courage and endurance is put to the test. He develops his faculties and resourcefulness. In the process he becomes a fuller man, the hallmark of a well-rounded education.
The motto could also be translated as “Soar to the Heights”. This poses a challenge to every Xavierite to “flap his wings” and take off into the great beyond of effort and achievement. Soaring high he can get a bird’s eye view of the land below and can appreciate its beauty and diversity, which he would never be able to do if he were earth-bound.
Thus, in keeping with his school motto, a Xavierite must make it his life’s mission to launch out into the depths and soar to the heights, conquering both.
